A. The meaning of BIS :-The Bureau of Indian Standards, also known as BIS, is India's national standard-setting body. It was established by the BIS Act of 1986 for the smooth progression of the activities of standardisation, marking, and quality certification of goods, as well as for matters related to or incidental to those activities.

Under the direction of the Government of India's Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, the Bureau of Indian Standards operates.

The BIS logo, licence number, and FSSAI logo must all be printed on the primary packaging material by Food Business Operators, together with the FSSAI logo and license/registration number.

 The Role of AGMARK :-

1. The Agriculture Produce (Grading and Marking) Act, 1937 was passed by the Indian Legislature in 1937 in order to have a systematic marketing of agricultural produce based on a clearly defined quality.
2.If you can meet their requirements, you can choose to use Agmark grading.
3.General Grading & Marking Rules, 1988 are the rules that were updated in 1988.
4. Grade requirements are provided for agricultural and related commodities such as grains, oil seeds, oils, creamery butter, ghee, legumes, eggs, etc. under the Agricultural Produce Act of 1937.
5. Depending on the level of quality (type of composition) in each situation, agricultural commodities are classed into several categories such as special, good, fair, ordinary, etc.
6. Agmark Grading is a method of classifying or grading agricultural products according to their chemical composition or grade.
