Q1. What is three-point lighting? Explain with diagram.

Three-point lighting is a standard technique used in photography, filmmaking, and stage lighting. It involves positioning three lights around the subject to create a balanced and visually appealing illumination.

The three lights used in this setup are:

Key Light: This is the primary light source and is usually the brightest of the three. It's positioned to one side of the subject, typically at a 45-degree angle relative to the camera. The key light defines the subject's shape and provides the main illumination.

Fill Light: The fill light is placed on the opposite side of the key light, also at a 45-degree angle to the camera. Its purpose is to fill in the shadows created by the key light, reducing the overall contrast of the scene. The intensity of the fill light is usually less than that of the key light.

Backlight (or Rim Light): This light is positioned behind the subject, aimed towards the back of their head or shoulders. Its purpose is to separate the subject from the background by creating a highlight along the edge of the subject, which helps to add depth and dimensionality to the image.

By using these three lights together, photographers and filmmakers can control the lighting in a scene to create a sense of depth, texture, and dimensionality while effectively highlighting the subject and maintaining a balanced exposure.
