Q1. Define Political
Ecology. Discuss any recent ecological movement in your country.
Political ecology is an interdisciplinary field that

dynamics, institutions, and ideologies shape human-environment interactions and
environmental policies.
In recent years, one significant ecological movement in many
countries, including my own, is the push for renewable energy and the
transition away from fossil fuels. This movement encompasses various grassroots
initiatives, policy advocacy, and technological advancements aimed at reducing
reliance on non-renewable energy sources like coal, oil, and natural gas.
In my country, there has been a growing awareness of the
need to address climate change and its associated environmental impacts. This
awareness has led to the emergence of movements advocating for renewable energy
adoption, carbon neutrality, and the protection of ecosystems vulnerable to
climate change.
One notable recent movement in my country is the campaign
for divestment from fossil fuels. This movement involves urging institutions
such as universities, pension funds, and religious organizations to withdraw
investments from fossil fuel companies. The goal is to not only financially
pressure these companies but also to raise awareness about the environmental
and social implications of continuing to support the fossil fuel industry.
Additionally, there have been protests and activism around
specific environmental issues such as deforestation, air and water pollution,
and biodiversity loss. These movements often seek to hold corporations and
governments accountable for their environmental policies and practices, while
also advocating for sustainable alternatives and conservation measures.
Overall, the recent ecological movements in my country
reflect a growing concern for environmental sustainability and a recognition of
the interconnectedness between human societies and the natural world. They
highlight the importance of addressing environmental issues through collective
action, policy reform, and changes in individual behavior.
