the world.” Discuss several measures which have been taken by Government of India
for easy access to funding by women entrepreneurs.
The Government
of India has recognized the importance of promoting women entrepreneurship and
has implemented several measures to facilitate easy access to funding for women
entrepreneurs. Here are some initiatives and measures taken by the Indian
government:
MUDRA Yojana:
The Pradhan
Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) aims to provide financial support to small and
micro-enterprises. Women entrepreneurs can avail of loans under this scheme to
start or expand their businesses. MUDRA loans are categorized into Shishu,
Kishor, and Tarun, based on the stage and scale of the business.
Stand Up India:
Launched to
promote entrepreneurship among women and marginalized communities, Stand Up
India provides financial assistance for setting up greenfield enterprises.
Under this scheme, women entrepreneurs can avail of loans ranging from Rs. 10
lakhs to Rs. 1 crore for starting new ventures.
SIDBI Mahila
Udyam Nidhi Scheme:
The Small
Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) offers the Mahila Udyam Nidhi
Scheme to provide financial assistance to women entrepreneurs. It focuses on
promoting women-owned small-scale industrial units by offering loans at
concessional rates.
Annapurna
Scheme:
The Annapurna
Scheme, operated by Bharatiya Mahila Bank, supports women entrepreneurs in the
food catering business. It provides loans for working capital requirements,
equipment purchase, and other needs related to the food business.
Stree Shakti
Package for Women Entrepreneurs:
This initiative
by various nationalized banks provides financial assistance to women
entrepreneurs by offering concessions on interest rates and collateral
requirements. It supports both new and existing enterprises run by women.
Mahila Coir
Yojana:
Implemented by
the Coir Board of India, this scheme aims to empower women through the coir
industry. It provides financial assistance for setting up coir-based
businesses, such as the production of coir mats, coir pith, and other coir products.
This scheme is
implemented by Punjab and Sind Bank and focuses on providing financial support
to women entrepreneurs in the form of loans for small-scale business ventures.
It aims to facilitate economic independence for women.
Bhartiya Mahila
Bank (BMB):
Although
Bharatiya Mahila Bank was merged with the State Bank of India in 2017, it was
initially established to meet the banking and financial needs of women. During
its existence, it played a crucial role in providing financial services
tailored to women entrepreneurs.
These measures
collectively aim to create a supportive environment for women entrepreneurs in
India by addressing their financial needs and promoting their active
participation in business and economic activities.

Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have been contributing significantly to the expansion
of entrepreneurial endeavours through business innovations.” Elaborate upon the
special features of MSMEs in Indian economy.

also known as seed investors, are high net worth individuals who invest directly
into promising entrepreneurial businesses in return for equity shares in the companies
at initial stage of venture development.” In light of this statement explain
