Note : (i) Answer all the five questions. (ii) All questions carry equal marks. (iii) Answers to question no. 1 and 2 should not exceed 600 words each.

1. "Strong ethical and spiritual values were part of Indian tradition since early Vedic period." Justify the statement while tracing the history of social work in ancient India.

OR

Appraise the contribution of NGOs to social welfare services in India and in promoting professional social workers in NGO sector.

2. Highlight the contributions of social reformers in India before and during Independence.

OR

 Examine the salient peasant movements in India. Discuss the impact of such movements on Indian society.

3. Answer any two of the following questions in about 300 words each :

(a) Explain main points of affinity between Hindu concepts, beliefs and values and those held by professional social work.

(b) Show the linkage of values, principles, ethics of Sikhism with social work.

(c) Trace various ideals pertaining to social   work in Buddhism.

(d) Delineate Islamic Community's contribution to social service.

4. Answer any four of the following in about 150 words each :

(a) Briefly mention Gandhi's perception of 5 'Man'.

(b) What are the values on which Gandhiji 5 wanted to build an ideal society ?

(c) Discuss in brief the Guidelines for Satyagrah.

(d) What was the nature of Gandhian Social Work in its initial phase in South Africa ?

(e) Mention the demerits and limitations of  Bhoodan and Gramdan.

(f) Examine Gandhian social work in voluntary sector.
